SURRENDER

Distant whispers in the air tonight
Reflections of my friend
In silence I am still - surrender
Taking time to pray brings the tender

Real and true, I fall down again
Getting up to run and then
Time to take responsibility for
The cries of the broken, the lost and poor

Surrender my thoughts, good intentions
And commit all of my substance again
In full submission, connected to the head
Of the body that was broken for them

I can do nothing without Him
who desires even the weakest part of me
To be closer to His heart
Completely undone and free

I surrender in truth
Every mistake over the years
Confessing my need is deeper
Than the evidence that appears

To accuse me to my face
Attempting to kill my heart and erase
Every memory of honors healing hand
Love that comes to call and commands

The enemy to back off
and every lie to stop its mouth
Declaring my victory is near
He alone is my help
